Tess as ¡¯A Pure Woman¡¯

Abstract
In this paper, I would like to study Thomas Hardy¡¯s novel, Tess of the D¡¯Urbervilles, as a pure woman. Each novel has shown their own particular social background. In 19-20 century, the publishing time of Thomas Hardy¡¯s work, Tess of D¡¯Urbervilles, all European countries had been changed to mechanical and modern society from their traditional culture. So all societies had fulled with pride and hypocricy from their pure morality. As we accepted this condition, all of the people in the world gradually lose human relationship. In this point of view, this novel had shown the need of traditional nature order and bad social structure. The great power who moves the world finaly maks human being to misery, but Miss Tess shown us her purity and high human morality to fight the enemy of misery. Above mentioned Tess¡¯s high humanity leads all readers to tasting her pity life as a pure woman.
